Voice Professor

Chief Advisor of the Huayun Professional Art Troupe

Zhou Qiuyu is a female Chinese vocalist and educator. A former professor of vocal music and Director of the Vocal Music Teaching and Research Office at the Central Academy of Drama, she also served as a Master's Degree Supervisor.

Her early training was under renowned figures: she studied Chinese national vocal music and Chinese opera with celebrated opera performer Guo Lanying and vocal educators Wu Xiuzhi and Jin Tielin.

Professor Zhou's career is distinguished by both performance and academic achievement:

  • Performance: She performed leading roles in major Henan Yue Opera productions, including Hua Mulan, A Qingsao, and Yinhuan.

  • Accolade: In 1994, she won the second prize in the CCTV China Folk Song Elite Competition.

  • Research: Her academic focus shifted to musical theater pedagogy after a faculty delegation trip to Japan. After a decade of research, she pioneered the "Sports-Based Vocal Training Method," which was presented at a 2005 Beijing seminar. The method was highly praised by experts, and her findings were featured in media outlets like CCTV, Beijing Music Weekly, and Music Life News.

  • Publications: She is the author of the Vocal Music Textbook for Drama, Film, and Musical (published by China Drama Publishing House) and has published numerous award-winning academic papers on vocal music.

In recent years, she has been dedicated to music cultural exchange and inheritance, actively participating in public welfare activities that have earned her widespread praise.
