Yu Rong, a former national-level performer at the Qingdao Peking Opera Theater in Shandong Province, studied under veteran actors Tian Baocheng, Feng Rongjuan, and Zui Lijun, specializing in the roles of Qingyi and Huadan. She has toured with troupes in Japan, Ukraine, and other countries. She came to the United States in 1998 and has received numerous awards, including the China Traditional Culture and Art Award and the Artist of Distinction Award, through Sino-US cultural exchange. While performing with the Qi Shufang Peking Opera Company in New York, she was honored to perform in classic Peking Opera productions such as The Heroines of the Yang Family on Broadway and The Orphan of Zhao at Lincoln Center.
