Rui Yang, the Erhu musician, has graduated from Shanghai Conservatory of Music. Rui studied under Erhu master Professor Zuying Xiang. In 1986, Rui published his first solo album "Spring Scenery in Jiangnan" and successfully held his graduation recital and graduated with honors, joined the Shanghai Film Orchestra as an Erhu soloist and deputy chief. In 1991, Rui won the grand prize of the XIV Shanghai Spring Nationwide Erhu Competition. In 1992 Rui recorded the modern Peking Opera symphony suite "Taking Tiger Mountain by Strategy", "The Harbor", and "Ode to Longjiang" with bamboo flute musician Xunfa Yu and Suona musician Ying Liu. In 1996, Rui moved to the United States and luckily have the opportunity with a group of Chinese musicians at Disneyland to perform and promote Chinese traditional music.
